On May 7th, Veracity Worldwide hosted a private briefing in New York City on Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, and the ripple effects across global energy markets. The briefing was led by Norman Roule, a CIA veteran of 34 years including a post as US national intelligence manager for Iran, and Omran Al-Kuwari, PhD, the CEO of Forta Advisors and a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council and UCL, with substantial expertise on LNG markets.
Moderated by Veracity’s Executive Chairman Steven Fox, the briefing looked beyond the headlines to consider wide-ranging issues and their implications. These included the internal dynamics of Iranian leadership, red lines for Tehran and Washington alike, the disruption to LNG supply chains, petrochemical exports, and regional logistics.
Highlights of the discussion include:
→ Diplomacy, not war, remains the only realistic path — but any deal will mirror the JCPOA architecture more than most expect.
→ The Strait of Hormuz disruption is not a short-term shock. LNG infrastructure is not designed to be switched off and back on, and markets reopening without a durable framework would be worse than no resolution.
→ Capital flows across the Gulf are already shifting. Infrastructure, pipeline routing, and egress strategies are being rethought; this is where patient, informed investors will find opportunity.
